What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a biocompatible titanium artificial tooth root placed into the jawbone to replace a missing natural tooth root.

During the healing process, the implant integrates with the jawbone to create a stable foundation. A porcelain or zirconia restoration is then placed on top, providing both functional performance and a natural-looking result.

At Papatya Dental Clinic, implant treatment is planned individually by our dentists following a comprehensive digital oral examination, panoramic X-ray, 3D dental tomography (CBCT), and, when necessary, bone evaluation. Additional procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifting may also be included in your treatment plan when required.

Who Is It Suitable For?

Dental implant treatment may be suitable for patients who:

  • Have one or more missing teeth,
  • Prefer a fixed solution instead of removable dentures,
  • Are in suitable general health for implant treatment,
  • Have sufficient jawbone for implant placement or are suitable for preparatory procedures when necessary.

Suitability for treatment is determined after a clinical examination and radiological evaluation.

Conditions That May Benefit from Dental Implants

Patients With One or More Missing Teeth

  • A permanent solution that replaces missing teeth without affecting adjacent healthy teeth.

Patients Who Prefer Fixed Teeth Instead of Removable Dentures

  • May help restore more natural chewing and speaking function.

Patients Looking to Support Jawbone After Tooth Loss

  • Dental implants help maintain the functional use of the jawbone following tooth loss.

Patients Seeking a Long-Term and Aesthetic Solution

  • Natural-looking, functional dental restorations can be planned according to individual needs.

Treatment Process

1. Examination and Digital Assessment

  • Your jawbone and oral structures are evaluated through a clinical examination, panoramic X-ray, and, when necessary, 3D CBCT imaging.

2. Treatment Planning

  • The number of implants, treatment area, and any additional procedures are determined to create a personalized treatment plan.

3. Implant Placement

  • The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The implant is placed into the jawbone, allowing the healing process to begin.

4. Final Restoration

  • Once the implant has successfully integrated with the jawbone, a custom-made porcelain or zirconia restoration is placed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I combine my treatment with an enjoyable holiday in Turkey?
  • Of course. Many of our patients combine their treatment process with Antalya's unique nature, beaches, and historical sites. You can plan your recovery period together with an enjoyable holiday, while also taking advantage of our accommodation and tour options.
Is dental implant treatment painful?
  • The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you will not feel pain during treatment. Mild discomfort, swelling, or tenderness afterward is normal and usually subsides within a few days.
How long does dental implant treatment take?
  • The treatment duration varies depending on the number of implants, your jawbone condition, and whether additional procedures are required. Your personalized treatment plan will be determined after your examination.
How long does it take for the implant to fuse with the jawbone?
  • The biological integration process (osseointegration) generally takes a few months. The exact healing period may vary depending on your individual bone structure.
Is implant treatment completed in a single visit?
  • After the implant is placed, a healing period is required. The permanent restoration is fitted at a later stage according to your treatment plan. In suitable cases, a temporary restoration may also be provided.
What materials do you use?
  • We use internationally approved, biocompatible titanium implant systems. Depending on your treatment plan, porcelain or zirconia restorations may be recommended.
Will my implant look like a natural tooth?
  • Your treatment is planned according to your oral anatomy, tooth shape, and aesthetic expectations. The goal is to achieve a natural-looking and functional result.
Is everyone suitable for dental implants?
  • Dental implants can be an appropriate treatment option for many patients. Suitability is determined after evaluating your general health, oral condition, and jawbone structure.
