For milk teeth, there are special fillings called compomers.

Pediatric Dentistry Preventive Treatments

Children cannot pay as much attention to oral care as adults, and baby teeth have a more organic structure than normal teeth, so they are more prone to caries. It is very difficult to apply a technique for brushing teeth in preschool children. At this age, it is important to give the child the habit of brushing teeth. When children brush their teeth, they often brush the visible or easily accessible faces of their teeth. However, in order to prevent decays, the interfaces and chewing surfaces of the teeth must also be cleaned. For this reason, brushing should be under the help and control of parents until school age. Some of the treatments applied are as follows:

FISSURE SEALANT: The indentations and protrusions on the chewing surfaces of the molars are called Fissure. Fissure areas are the most easily bruised areas. With the application of fissure cover, these indentations and protrusions are covered with a liquid filler that protects the teeth from caries. In this way, nutrients are removed from this area more easily and bacteria are prevented from reaching here. Fissure sealants should be checked every six months. Fissure sealant is a protective application that does not hurt children at all, does not make them nervous. It helps children more safely adapt to dental treatment processes.

FLUORINE APPLICATIONS: Fluorine is a substance that strengthens teeth. Forms that can be rubbed on the teeth; they form calcium fluoride ions on the surfaces of the teeth, protecting the teeth from acid secretion caused by nutrients. This, in turn, helps the tooth become more resistant to caries. Fluorine application provides 6 months of protection. Before this application, there should be no caries lesions that have started and progressed on the teeth. For this reason, a doctor's examination is required before fluorine applications.

ORAL HYGIENE: Oral hygiene practices should also be started when your baby's first tooth is seen. For this, you should soak a clean gauze cloth lightly with warm water and wipe your teeth that come out after breastfeeding. In the following months, teeth can be cleaned without using toothpaste with a toothbrush. In children between 2.5 and 4 years of age, brushing without paste can be done. Between 4-6 years of age (against the risk of swallowing) without fluorescence, brushing can be done with fluorinated toothpastes if necessary from the age of 6.
